Driver killed in multi-vehicle crash in Sardine Canyon

WELLSVILLE -- A man was killed in a four-vehicle crash at the entrance of Sardine Canyon Monday night.



Utah Highway Patrol troopers said the driver of a Ryder rental truck crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and hit a yellow car.



The driver of that car, 54-year-old Robert Smith of Wellsville, was killed instantly.



Two 17-year-olds in an Audi were critically injured.



A 22-year-old woman driving a third car was released from the hospital with no significant injuries. The woman's car rear-ended Smith's car when it was hit by the moving truck.



The driver of the moving truck was treated for minor neck injuries and released.
